Newmarket based fine artist Bill Lunshof grew up in a Dutch immigrant family and had
an interest in the visual arts from an early age. Also an avid gardener and
photographer, Bill’s work takes much of its inspiration from nature. He likes to portray
rural Ontario scenes and often includes old barns, houses and vehicles in his work. He
is fascinated by how light affects the landscape and tries to capture that in his work. He
also enjoys painting En Plein Air and can be found with his easel set up in and around
his home town of Newmarket when the weather allows.
He is a member of two local art groups – Newmarket Group of Artists where he
volunteers his time to help organize their annual Art Walk and Studio Tour and the
Society of York Region Artists where he sits on the Executive.
